Mi Bas side orn Pitcairn

Teaching the children at school during Culture classes in 2007 and to help them remember Pitcairn Islands place names we made a book together.

Susan Davies was the school teacher from Nelson New Zealand at the time and we would on culture day spend a good time out sketching our pictures and talking about each place name that the children have chosen as their subject.

This Book is written in the Pitcairn Language and English.

The book took shape and we were put a proposal to council for it to be funded so it can be published.

I was liasing with Attentive designs and Shirley Dillion until we got the layout to a satisfactory finish.

On August 25th 2008 the children and I held the first ever book launch in the town Hall. all who came was thoroughly impressed with what 5 Children and 1 young Adult student can achieve.

I was so proud of them as the children ranging from Age 5 to 11 + the 16 yr old spent that evening signing copies that we have sold to help benefit the Islands economy.

A potluck dinner followed the splendid singing performance that the Children and I put on for our guest. One of the featured songs we sang was Pitcairns places (written by myself and recorded on the second CD albulm With love Maimiti)

Reading through this book, I hope you get the same joyous moments I did as the childrens storie tell their version of Their favourite place on Pitcairn.
